DASISH Report about New IPR Challenges

This report is the first in a series of reports in the legal and ethics area. It gives a broad overview of the various legal and ethical challenges researchers in the social sciences and humanities are confronted with, and it provides a general discussion of these subjects in relation to research.

Major general issues identified and discussed in the report are the proposed new European General data Protection Regulation, the fragmentation of data protection laws in the EU Member States, the organization of the national ethics committee systems in Europe, and the technological development which amplifies ethical challenges that are not covered in existing ethics codes. Also specific legal and ethical challenges related to SSH research are discussed.
